Nacionales, Crissa Marie LI. (2007) Quality of Care for Hospitalized Children. Holy Cross of Davao College, Inc.: Davao City.
This study evaluated the quality of care of the existing hospital services for hospitalized children at Davao Medical Center. It used the descriptive research method design. A survey questionnaire and a focused group discussion were used to obtain the needed data for the study. The respondents were the parents of pediatric patients one to six years old while those aged seven to thirteen directly participated. Weighted mean was used in the data analysis.
The study concluded that the quality of care for services at Davao Medical Center to its pediatric patients is sufficient in the categories of being a safe environment, a caring environment, availability of information and open communication, in the practice of child-sensitive medical procedures and of giving significant value on children’s participation.
It is recommended that the hospital, with its partners in the community work on providing additional facilities to provide venues for play and learning hospitalized children within closer proximity to the different pediatric wards.
